Makó is located in the Southern-Eastern corner of Hungary in Csongrad County, close to the Romanian border on the right side of the River Maros.

Based on the plans of Imre Makovecz a new cultural centre, the Onion House has been built in Makó. In the summer you can enjoy the shows of the Operett Festival and the Makó Music. Today the number of the audience is more than 3000 people.
After a long walk in the town we suggest you to visit the Thermal Bath. A relaxing environment and many pools offer a nice experience for bathers and those wanting to have a cure treatment.
You may also visit the surrounding villages around Makó. You can find the most beautiful rotunda of the country in Kiszombor, which has been built in Roman style in the 13th century. Just 12 kms from Makó lies Óföldeák with the unique Roman Catholic church built around 1400. In the 15th century a wall around the church has been built which makes the church even more interesting.
